CAS Week 2025 – The World Scholar’s Cup

The World Scholar's Cup is an international academic competition where students compete in teams of three across four events: Scholar's Challenge, Collaborative Writing, Team Debate, and Scholar's Bowl. For our CAS week, we organised an in-house version that adapted this format for our school community.
Our students experienced the same collaborative, supportive atmosphere that characterises the international tournament, engaging with topics across subjects like science, literature, and art. The debates were particularly engaging with students tackling thought provoking motions such as "That looted artefacts should be returned to their country of origin" and "That artificial intelligence should be fully embraced within the creative arts."
At the end of the competition, students were rewarded with adorable alpacas, the perfect fluffy prize to celebrate their hard work and create some unforgettable memories after all those intense academic challenges!

Abir: The whole day we did debate and we won 1/2 rounds. After the debate we got feedback on how to be better debaters. Our first topic was that creativity is at risk and that AI is overtaking it.
Michael: Firstly we had a 30 minute research and prep for the Scholar's Bowl, a team multiple choice quiz. Some hours later, Brandon & I attempted 25 questions in the Scholar's Bowl (in a kahoot-like format) & got 15 of them correct! After the Scholar's Bowl, we were given awards and an alpaca (yay).
Zachary: Today, we did the team debate. We debated in the second and third rounds as the opposition team. In the second round, we debated if a country should try to be the “next Rome” and in the third round, we debated if schools should focus more on practical skills rather than academic knowledge.
