CAS Week 2025 – Y10 Internship

3 June 2025

The Year 10 Internship Programme provided the opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the professional world. Families were responsible for finding the organisation where the student spent the week. This resulted in placements in a variety of industries, such as Insurance; Food and Beverage; Education; Dentistry; and the area of Importing and Exporting. Students had a chance to observe professionals in their specialised field and understand the various roles that could be played in organisations. Most students had opportunities to participate in supervised tasks and they developed their transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, and time management as a result. Students were encouraged to explore potential career paths and deepen their understanding of career path requirements.

Noa, Food & Beverage, at Jaspa’s Bar & Grill : “The internship taught me how to stay calm and work efficiently during busy periods, as well as how to adapt quickly by switching between different roles when needed. Overall, this experience was very valuable in developing practical skills that I will use in the future. It also showed me the challenges of managing multiple tasks at once. Using my people skills in a real work environment helped me understand what is required for a career in the hospitality industry.”

Alba, Educational Assistant, at Primary International Section at FIS, Jardine’s Lookout: My supervisors were very supportive, and helped me out, giving me feedback and instructions on what to do. This proved to be an incredibly valuable experience, as I developed my social skills with younger kids. My experience provided me with a much deeper understanding of the education field.

Charlotte, Insurance, AIA, Kowloon: I had a lot of fun. There weren’t any negative aspects except for having to wake up early.

Penelope, Dentistry, at Braces & Faces, Central : I watched how the orthodontist performed surgery, extractions, and fillings. I also observed a brace specialist. I learned some tips from the ortho to relieve pain and how to keep good dental hygiene. For the second part of the day, I was with a special orthodontist for kids. I saw how she managed kids who were scared or shy. I was impressed as she did an amazing job with all the younger children.
