Meeting with a Legal Expert: French Stream Students Explore the Realities of Law

17 September 2025

On Tuesday, September 9th, our French Stream BPR students had the unique opportunity to meet Ms. Frédérique Loescher, a distinguished criminal lawyer practicing in Sarreguemines, in the northeast of France near the German border.

The session provided a fascinating deep dive into the world of criminal law. Students learned about the day-to-day reality of the profession, the required educational path (with a focus on criminal law specialties), and fundamental concepts of the French legal and court systems, all brought to life with concrete examples. The presentation sparked a lively Q&A, with numerous questions on these complex and captivating topics.

Gearing Up for the Caen Memorial Moot Court Competition

The learning continued in the afternoon for our Year 13 students enrolled in the "DGEMC" course (Law and Major Contemporary World Issues). They participated in a special workshop led by Ms. Loescher to master the art of courtroom pleading. The invaluable advice and practice they received are direct preparation for their upcoming participation in the prestigious annual Moot Court Competition for high school students, held by the Caen Memorial Museum—a world-renowned museum dedicated to history and peace.

This was a truly rewarding experience for all involved. It provided our students with greater clarity on the legal system, demystifying a subject often portrayed inaccurately by television dramas.
