The Tokyo Video Challenge: An Exceptional Educational and Artistic Adventure
The educational trip to Tokyo, organized as part of the Tokyo Video Challenge, took place from Wednesday, January 28 to Saturday, January 31, 2026.
This project brought together cinema studies students from the Lycée Français International de Tokyo and the Lycée Français International de Hong Kong with a shared goal: to create ten original short films in just four days, right in the heart of the Japanese capital.

Guided by their teachers, students worked in mixed teams to imagine, shoot, and edit their films. They showed remarkable dedication, working late into the evening on multiple takes, location scouting, and collaboration.
This creative energy allowed them to put into practice the technical and artistic skills they've developed throughout the year—scriptwriting, directing, framing, editing, team management, and working with actors.
Beyond the filmmaking exercise itself, the trip offered a rich human and intercultural experience. As they discovered Tokyo—its neighborhoods, its light, its culture, its relationship with imagery—students were able to blend their unique perspectives and bring a personal vision to the city, all while drawing inspiration from Japanese cinema.
The 2026 Tokyo Video Challenge will remain a standout moment in their journey: a meeting between two schools, two artistic approaches, and a shared passion for film.
The films created during the trip are now available in a public YouTube playlist. These works showcase the talent, creativity, and collaboration that our students demonstrated throughout this adventure.
