Podium Pride: FIS TKO Primary Team Secures 3rd Place at HKPSSA Cross Country Championships
On Saturday, March 14th, the hills echoed with the determined footfalls of nearly 200 primary school athletes aged U8 to U11, all competing in the HKPSSA Cross Country Championships. The Hong Kong heat was unrelenting, the course demanding—but the French International School's TKO Primary cross country team arrived ready, forged by six weeks of focused preparation.
Led by our dedicated FIS staff, the team's Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) sessions had been a masterclass in building endurance, technique, and team spirit. Week after week, through humid afternoons and sweaty intervals, coaches guided these young runners from tentative starts to confident strides. The investment showed: every athlete stepped to the line with purpose, representing FIS with poise and heart.
The races unfolded with grit and grace. U8s burst forward with infectious energy, U9s and U10s maintained smart pacing through the inclines, and U11s led with tactical determination. Spectators—parents, teachers, and fellow students—lined the routes, their cheers cutting through the thick air as FIS colours powered up hills and surged to finish lines. There were quiet victories everywhere: shaking off fatigue, supporting teammates, crossing the line with exhausted but triumphant smiles.
The heat tested them, the terrain pushed them, but the training held firm. Resilience turned discomfort into drive, and collective effort shone brightest. When the results were announced, the payoff was clear: 3rd place overall in the team event. A podium finish among Hong Kong's top international primary schools.
