Hacking at the Library
When you become a middle school student, it's undeniable, you become a "big kid"! You have a schedule filled with many blocks, many teachers who teach you lots of new subjects, and access to a variety of new rooms, including the School Library (or "Ali Baba's cave" for reading enthusiasts).
But entering middle school also means becoming the youngest again in "the big kids’ school". So, discovering this gigantic room with endless rows of books can sometimes be overwhelming. It was for me, I still remember it. The shelves seemed to be 10 meters high and formed endless labyrinths. I also remember our librarian, whose name we only knew from the sign on her desk. She never introduced herself to us and never spoke to us, except of course to shush us with her terrible "SHHHH". Asking her how to borrow a book, or if a certain book was available, had clearly become a scary exercise.
Our students of Y7 and 6ème at FIS also experienced this somewhat traditional step for all students entering middle school. However, when they crossed the door of the Library, it was Fabienne and Aurélie who warmly welcomed them; it is important to specify. And there’s more! Indeed, our two amazing librarians had prepared for them a somewhat original and especially very fun and welcoming mission, allowing the students to familiarize themselves with the place and its books in a cheerful atmosphere. The children loved it, and so did we! We invite you to discover the mission in comic book form... Happy reading!
