IB Visual Arts Exhibition 2025

The IB Visual Arts Exhibition is the culmination of months of dedication and hard work by our students, who have poured their hearts and souls into creating thought-provoking and visually stunning artworks. Our 2025 exhibition not only celebrates their artistic achievements but also provides a platform for them to express their unique perspectives and engage with the broader community. The event is featuring a diverse range of mediums, including paintings, sculptures, installations, digital art, photography and more. And this year we celebrate the artwork of 2 dedicated students Angela and Sophie.
Sophie NG - IBVA - SL
The theme of identity in Sophie’s exhibition emerges from feelings of loss and alienation, both physically and psychologically. Influenced by her surroundings, she found it increasingly difficult to express her individuality due to the fear of judgment. As she embraced the responsibilities of young adulthood, a sense of suffocation enveloped her. This exhibition invites you to experience the perspective of a teenage girl navigating her identity, actively seeking belonging and comfort in society. Also, her exhibition's order mimics a journey, guiding the audience from intimate experiences to contemporary issues. This intimate exploration of maturation and self-discovery aims to connect with like-minded individuals, inspiring them to voice and confront their struggles.
✨ Featured Works:
- "Duality": A self-portrait showing the calm and vulnerable sides of identity.
- "Disguise": Photography capturing fear and the longing to escape reality.
- "Stay or Fly?": Mixed media portraying the excitement and hesitation of growing up.
- "Bear Necessities": An installation celebrating cultural support and community.
- “2.5 Dimensional”: A Hong Kong’s urban landscape using layered transparent boards.
- "Generations" explores her local neighborhood, reflecting her personal connection to the space.

Angela LAN - IBVA - HL
For her IB visual art journey, Angela explored the interplay of society and culture as she unearthed her identity. Through diverse mediums, each piece reflects layers shaped by personal introspection, cultural heritage, and societal pressures. Inspired by artists like Sherald and Sassoferrato, she delves into themes of vulnerability, defiance, tradition, and modernity, mirroring the fractured yet resilient essence of selfhood. Her exhibition is divided into three zones: societal critiques, personal experiences, and identity exploration. Her aim is to guide viewers to look beneath the surface, confronting the fractures and silenced truths of identity through art, making the unseen tangible.
✨ Highlights:
- It’s for Your Own Good : This artwork captures family dynamics in Asian culture, using balloon-headed figures to symbolise the suppression of individuality.
- Path: A clay sculpture depicting the sacrifices for societal demands, challenging viewers to confront materialism and conformity.
- Self-Portraits: Reimagining the Virgin Mary, this piece represents self-discovery
- Flower Girl, which illustrates the erasure of individuality.
- Silence victims : Done with linocut this artwork aims to criticise the industrialised cruelty of animal testing.
- Necessity : Through digital animation, the theme of water has been explored and the work aims to serve as a reminder to raise an awareness of water preservation.
