What is your background and journey to FIS?
After 15 years in teaching, I moved into school leadership in France, working in large institutions. My most recent school had nearly 1,800 students, including 350 boarders, and offered a rich curriculum with an American international section, a binational program, and a European section. I then joined the Lycée Français de Shanghai, where I worked for three years.
FIS’ outstanding reputation within the AEFE network motivated me to apply when the position of Deputy Head became available. It was a wonderful opportunity to contribute my experience to a recognised institution while continuing my professional growth in a stimulating international environment.
What is your philosophy and approach to education?
I see education as a precious mission—an essential pillar for building the world we want our future generations to thrive in. Guiding young people is a major responsibility we all share, whether we are teachers, administrative staff, educational or health personnel, school leaders… and, of course, parents. The best interests of the students must remain our compass in every decision we make collectively.
In terms of educational and pedagogical approach, I believe it is essential to encourage student responsibility, initiative, and critical thinking. Mistakes should be seen as a natural part of learning, not as failure. Promoting engagement, autonomy, and self-confidence is key to preparing our students to become enlightened citizens and active shapers of their own future.
What is your mission at FIS? What were your first impressions?
As Deputy Head, my mission is to contribute to the success of every student by working closely with the leadership team, teachers, staff, and families. I am responsible for academic and educational oversight, project coordination, and ensuring that each student finds their place and can progress in a supportive yet challenging environment.
I immediately found a welcoming, dynamic, and committed community. Here, academic excellence seems to go hand in hand with genuine cultural openness and a strong sense of humanity, qualities that undoubtedly make LFI a unique place. Jumping straight into this dynamic has been a highly motivating experience.
A message for our community?
I am truly delighted to join FIS and look forward to contributing to the life of the school throughout the academic year. Our students’ success depends on cooperation and trust among all members of our community. I hope we can move forward together with enthusiasm, high standards, and kindness, all in the service of our young people and their aspirations.
