Report 12th January Board Meeting

19 January 2026

The FIS Board of Directors (BoD) met on Monday, January 12 at 6:30pm on the Chai Wan campus for its 5th session of the year. In line with our commitment to united and robust governance, here is a summary of the meeting's discussions, considerations, and votes.

Mr. Bertrand Ferret, Head of School, began by presenting a report on the most significant updates in the
school's recent weeks and answered questions from Board members.

The Chair of the Fundraising Committee, Mr. Gilles Marino, then presented an overview of the committee's activities since the start of the school year, along with the detailed action plan for the coming months, notably including the GALA scheduled for March. He also presented the strategic directions decided by the committee. This presentation gave the BoD an opportunity to assess the progress made in this area, which is particularly strategic for the school.

Mr. Eran Ben Ichou, BoD Treasurer, and Chair of the Finance Committee, and Ms. Katherine Yu, CBO, then
presented a 3rd iteration of the proposed budget for 2026/2027, following the presentations in November and December 2025. The subsequent discussions enabled BoD members to obtain clarifications from the Head of School regarding the choices and directions proposed by the leadership team and to ensure their alignment with the strategic plan.

The Head of School also presented to the BoD members a summary of his first months at FIS, primarily focused on the following priorities:

  • Ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of operations.
  • Engaging the community collectively in FIS strategic vision and implementing tools to measure progress (surveys, priorities, objectives, operational plan, mission letters, evaluation).
  • Implementing "OneFIS" structural reforms (policies, procedures, operational bodies, HR organization) for greater consistency and unity.
  • Supporting pedagogical initiatives aimed at strengthening teaching excellence and student support.
  • Guiding governance to continue its strategic refocusing.

According to the Head of School, FIS, with the ongoing support of its school community, is well-positioned to achieve its current strategic objectives and to embody a dynamic, united, and forward-looking school. Finally, the BoD approved by vote the updated Admissions Policy and Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy for immediate application.

The next BoD meeting will be held on February 9, 2026, at 6:30pm on the Blue Pool Road campus.

Chairman of the Board
