Report on December 9th Board Meeting

12 December 2024

The Board of Directors of FIS convened for its third meeting of the year on Monday, December 9th at our Blue Pool Road campus. The members admired the festive and sustainable atmosphere our students prepared. A Christmas tree composed of donated and recycled books, drawing attention to responsible consumption and learning practices.

In line with our commitment to United and Sound Governance, here is a summary of the discussions, considerations, and votes from the meeting.

Firstly, the board voted to approve a new external volunteer member to join the Compensation & Benefits committee.

FIS Interim Head of School, Mr Michael Maniska, then provided a school management update on several key topics, including the progress of our ongoing school-wide sustainability audit, progress on the implementation of the compensation & benefits review project, and significant information gathered from the attendance of a Hong Kong international head of schools meeting.

Fulfilling our duty to maintain the long-term financial health and sustainability of the school, the Finance Committee presented an update forecasting its adjusted projections for 24/25 and the preliminary pre-budget review draft of the 25/26 school year budget.

The board then voted to approve the creation of a long-term master planning committee to examine and propose the long-term organizational footprint of the school.

The board will meet again for its fourth session on Monday, January 20th, 2025.
