Celebrating Día de Muertos: A Collaborative Interstream Project by our Students of Spanish

27 November 2025

For yet another year, students from the International and French streams came together to celebrate Día de Muertos, a joyful Mexican tradition that honors departed loved ones.

Our 4ème students built ofrendas with the schoolmate from Year 8 as part of their unit on adaptability students from both campuses built ofrendas (altars). These displays reflected their cherished school experiences, paid tribute to famous idols, and featured decorated calacas (skeletons). Our 3ème students also crafted fantastical and colorful alebrijes—mythical creatures believed to be spiritual guides between different dimensions.

This cross-campus project allowed students to appreciate a rich cultural tradition while strengthening our sense of community. The week was brought to life with Mexican snacks and musical performances, sparking lively conversations about their creative work.

In the end, this Día de Muertos celebration highlighted the unique power of tradition to bring people together and celebrate the memories that connect us.
