New Regulations on Konjac Jelly Products (Effective 1 April 2026)

29 April 2026

The Food and Drugs Regulation 2025 came into effect on 1 April 2026, introducing new safety requirements for konjac-containing jelly confectionery products to reduce the risk of choking among children.

Under the new regulation:

  • Mini-cup jelly products (45 mm or smaller in height or width) must not contain konjac.
  • All other pre-packaged konjac jelly products must clearly display the following warning statement on the outer packaging: “Caution: Do not swallow whole. Elderly and children must consume under supervision.”「注意:勿一口吞食,長者及兒童須在監護下食用。」

In accordance with these requirements, our school will not sell or distribute any konjac jelly products that do not comply with the new regulations.

Parents are reminded to encourage children to chew food thoroughly and avoid swallowing jelly products whole. Young children should always consume such products under adult supervision to help prevent choking.

Thank you for your continued support in promoting food safety and safeguarding our students’ well-being.
