Liberté - Égalité - Fraternité, 3 words at the entrance to every school in France today
It combines three concepts: the first two are human rights, the third is more of a moral commitment. It is the latter one that we want to promote at FIS.
Fraternity is a value, which means that we must help each other, respect each other and respect others.
Fraternity comes from the Latin Fraternitas, meaning "brother. In a broader sense, it refers to the relationships of tolerance and respect that unite people. Fraternity therefore refers to a way of acting in solidarity.
At collège or lycée, it relates to the pleasure of doing things together and designing joint projects.
It's an opportunity to discover common ground and to share, to tell ourselves that we are stronger together than alone, that we can help those in need, whether they are classmates, friends, or not.
In an international context where natural disasters such as the earthquake in Vanuatu or the cyclone in Mayotte, or wars such as in Ukraine, Palestine, Lebanon, and unfortunately in many other countries, or terrorist attacks such as in New Orleans or Germany which remind us of those of the Bataclan or Charlie Hebdo, we wish that our students and our community gather around this fundamental value which allows actions of solidarity and good living together.
It is in this fraternal spirit that the French secondary team wishes you its best wishes for 2025.
