Our Journeys at FIS
As I am writing this I am mainly thinking about our FIS Journeys.
Year 7s are just starting their journey at BPR and this morning as the students were arriving at school I was lucky enough to have a good catch up with Year 7 students. What a fantastic group of students - To a backdrop of Gershwin (played excellently by Lavender on the foyer piano) I met Maya, Mia, and Naviya were absolutely thrilled with the drama and English lessons they had experienced this week. I was delighted to hear their enthusiastic descriptions, which included comments like, ‘engaging, incredible, and the best teacher ever.’
I also met John and Aaron who explained what they had been doing in social studies and explained why they had been learning it. I also had a truly fascinating conversation with Alex and Ines, as well as Caius, who gave me a vivid and detailed account of the origins of his name! I am so genuinely excited to start my journey with this group of Year 7s, who I feel embody everything stated in our strategic plan: 'Our students, spirited and confident. I look forward to meeting you all on Oct 2nd at the Year 7 Meet the teachers meeting.
I am also thinking about our older students. Years 10-13 who are navigating their journeys around the academic world of external examinations and Year 13 who are in their final year of their FIS Journey. I would like to remind you of the following important parent meetings that we are holding on campus in the coming weeks and months:
- Year 13 Info evening 11/09
- Year 10 Info evening 15/09
- Year 12 Info evening 16/09
There will be further options events for Years 9 and 11 in November.
We have introduced three new policies—the phone policy, the dress code, and the absence policy—all of which are designed to enhance our school culture. Please take time to review these policies with your child to ensure they are fully informed. I will resend these out together later today and I thank you for your support in making FIS a healthier environment for our students.
I Look forward to meeting you all in the coming weeks and months and my door is always open and I welcome feedback about how we can continuously work together to improve our environment for your children,
#ProudToBeFIS,
