House Captains, Eco Ambassadors & More
Our Students are spirited and confident
Y4 - Y6 Overnight camps
We partner with Ark Eden to ensure our camps meet the criteria outlined in our IPC curriculum and link to sustainable development goals (SDGs). Ark Eden works closely with our coordinators to ensure that the activities allow for a progression of skills and challenges from year three to year six. Health and safety are paramount for all of our trips. Please note for year three we will now run day camps only, not over night.
- Risk assessments are in place by the camp provider for all activities.
- Staff and student ratios are above those recommended by the EDB.
- Students have safety briefings about each aspect of the camp.
- Staff are on duty at all times.
- Bathroom and bedtime routines are always clearly explained to the students upon arrival at camp.
House Captains 2024/25
House captains are elected from year six at the start of each academic year. House captains present house points in assemblies and act as student ambassadors for their teams during events.

The Student Council meets regularly to discuss and take action on many aspects of student life, such as playground facilities, special event days, assemblies and whole school community events. This year, the student council will participate in different activities regarding our whole school sustainability audit led by Metanoia and be our Eco Ambassadors. Below are a few pictures from their first meeting, where they were introduced to their upcoming mission to tackle food waste:
Targets
Student targets are now sent home for year one to year six students and families via Google Classroom rather than paper copies. This will enable students, parents and teachers to track student progress and targets from term one through to term three. The new format will also include self/family reflection sections. Targets will be sent before half term. They were also discussed with you and the teacher at parent-teacher conferences (PTC). Targets form regular discussions with students and teachers in writing, math and personal goals.
Our Team Talented and Supportive
Exit Points
We have many Exit Points this half term, and it is great that we are able to welcome families from our community to share in our students' learning. Exit points are opportunities for students to share their knowledge, skills and understanding with parents, other students or both!
The Exit Point signifies the end of the unit. It helps children draw on their prior learning, reminding them of all the connections between subjects that they have made. It creates time and opportunities to build their understanding of their learning and to reflect individually and as a group.
Cover Teachers
In IS Primary, we only use our internal cover teachers if teachers are absent. Starting this November, we will have two cover teachers: Mr Ducett and Mrs Hon. Both of our cover teachers are experienced and experienced in the IS Primary curriculum, practices and polices.
